Character Name: Kamado Nezuko

Personality:
Nezuko's personality is an interesting thing to tackle, since her outward demeanor and behavior changes fairly drastically when she is turned into a demon at the beginning of the anime. We really only get glimpses of what she was like as a human, and have to extrapolate from there based on what little we do see, and the few through-lines that continue on into her time as a demon.
One of the most obvious through-lines is Nezuko's selfless nature. In the beginning scenes we get of the Kamado family, Nezuko is seen helping her mother by caring for the youngest brother, Rokuta. When Tanjiro offers to buy Nezuko a new kimono on his trip to town, she again shows her selflessness by declining his offer, saying that Tanjiro should instead use his money to make sure that their younger siblings have enough food to eat. It is clearly implied that this exchange is one that occurs between Tanjiro and Nezuko often. Even when Muzan attacks, Nezuko shields Rokuta with her body in a desperate last-ditch attempt to protect him from the carnage. As a demon, Nezuko continues to protect Tanjiro, furiously attacking anyone she sees as a threat to his safety in a fit of unbridled rage, be they demon or demon slayer. Nezuko is so family-oriented that the only thing Urokodaki has to do to ensure that Nezuko's protective nature will extend to other humans is to hypnotize her so that she will see all humans as her "family."
Even aside from Urokodaki's hypnotic suggestion, Nezuko is not inclined to succumb to her demonic urges and eat, or otherwise harm, a living human. It's just not in her nature. Tanjiro believes this of her without a shadow of a doubt, and his unwavering faith is enough to convince Urokodaki and Giyu (both tenured demon slayers) to lay their reputations and their lives on the line in support of Nezuko's pledge not to eat humans. Nezuko, in her own way, is aware of how strongly her brother and the others are counting on her to retain a hold on her humanity and prove them right, and she stubbornly refuses to give in to even the strongest, most blatant attempts to tempt her into attacking a human.
Because Nezuko refuses to feed on humans, she requires other ways to regain her strength and energy. She accomplishes this by sleeping... a lot. It is not uncommon to see Nezuko just pass out at random, or otherwise end up lying on the floor, either sound asleep, or spacing out and not paying attention to what's going on around her. She doesn't always acknowledge the gravity of a situation, or pay attention to a conversation that directly concerns her, instead flippantly ignoring all attempts to get her attention in favor of rolling around on the ground or scooting like an inchworm across a room.
This vacant, playful behavior comes to the forefront after her transformation into a demon, but there are hints of it shown during the scenes where she is human, where she is seen always smiling, and playing with her younger siblings to distract them away from bothering Tanjiro or their parents. It is possible that the experience of being forcefully separated from her humanity and turned into a demon served to lower her inhibitions and bring out her more playful side, but her lighthearted nature as a demon is not created out of whole cloth.
On that last point, it is my intention that, even though Nezuko will be turned back into a human upon her arrival into game, I do not want it to serve as a "hard reset" back to how she was before she was turned into a demon. It doesn't make sense to me that those several years wouldn't have some impact on her, or wouldn't affect her personality or her outlook in some way. The Nezuko that arrives in Rysligh should be Nezuko as she is now, not as she was back then, a Nezuko shaped by loss and hardship, with stronger convictions, and a stronger need to hold onto whatever humanity she has left. This need will shape her experiences in Ryslig, where a loss of humanity and the need to survive by feeding on humans is an even greater inevitability than it ever has been before.

Nezuko is a demon, an immortal being which would normally feed on humans. Nezuko chooses not to do this, and regains her strength by sleeping a lot instead. She has had a spell placed on her, to see all humans as members of her departed family, so that she is motivated to protect them. The only things that can kill a demon are sunlight, and to be beheaded by a special sword wielded by a demon slayer.
